About this project

Arroyo is an educational tool for the San Gabriel foothills, built to help residents understand post-fire debris-flow rainfall thresholds, storm scenarios, and where to find official warning resources. It is a community education project, not an official product of any government agency, and it never issues or clears a warning itself — every risk tier links out to the real products to act on: Alert LA County, the National Weather Service, and Genasys Protect.

Technologies used

• A single self-contained HTML/CSS/JavaScript front end, trilingual (English, Spanish, and Chinese)
• Python build and verification scripts, checked against an independent oracle test suite before every deploy
• Rainfall and alert data drawn from the National Weather Service and Synoptic's Mesonet API
• Hosted on GitHub Pages, deployed automatically via GitHub Actions
